what is a major side effect of rifampin?

If a patients is being treated for TB they must..
complete the entire course of treatment from 6 mnths to 1 yr. If they miss even one dose of meds they must start the entire course of treatment from the very beg. Thy should be instructed that they can absolutely drink no alcohol bc of the meds are hepatotoxic and they will experience a disulfiram or antabuse reaction which is potentially life threatening.
what is tetracyclines and what should patients be instructed not to eat?
they have a tendency to chelate which means they bind with metallic ions. as a result, patients should not eat dairy products. If they must take the drug they should take it at least 1 hr before meals.
