How to draw an equilateral


triangle with side


length 5cm

1) with a ruler, draw a straight line 5cm long


2) Take your compass, and open it so the spike is on one end of the line,and the pencil tip is on the other.


3) Keep the spike of the compass on one end of the line, and draw and arc at when you think the last corner is going to be. arc should be about 2cm long.


4)WITHOUT ALTERING THE COMPASS, put the spike f the compass at the other end of the line, and draw another arc. The arcs should cross.


5) now using a ruler, join each end of the original line to the point where the arcs meet.


6)You should have equilateral triangle!

How to draw a perpendicular


bisector line

1) with the ruler, draw a straight line anywhere between 4cm and 6cm long in the middle of your page.


2) take your compass, and open it until it is 2/3 the length of the line.


3) now, put the spike of the compass on one end of the line, and draw two arcs, one above and one below the line.


4) WITHOUT ALTERING THE COMPASS, put the spike on the other end, and do the same again, the arcs should cross


5) now, using a ruler, join the two points where the arcs cross

How to draw an angle bisector

1) using a ruler, draw two lines about 4cm long, which make an acute angle


2) take your compass, and open it so its a bit longer than half of one of the lines.


3) put the spike of the compass on the point where the lines meet, and draw two arcs on each line


4) now, WITHOUT ALTERING THE COMPASS, put the spike where one of the arcs meets the line, and draw a new arc in between the 2 lines


5) put the spike on the other side, and repeat. they should cross


6) using a ruler, join the point where the lines meet to the point where the two meet
