Embedded System

A computer that exists within a larger mechanical or electrical device such as a microwave oven or a guided missile,

When are embedded systems used

When a whole computer is not viable and when they only have a single, specific purpose

What is at the heart of an embedded system

Microcontroller

Micro controller

A chip that contains both storage and processing capabilities

Micro controller

Microcontrollers code

Run in a loop, continually monitoring inputs, processing them and producing outputs

Are embedded systems expensive?

No they are cheap and as a result also low processing power

Diagram of Mitrocontroller

What does the sensor do?

Detects something, then sends an electrical signal along a wire or multiple wires, each wire is connected to a pin.

Signal travels through the pin along a connection to the CPU and converted to binary

CPU follows instructions, sends signal along the board to a pre determined pin

Pin sends the signal down a connected wire to an ACTUATOR

Actuator

Motor of some kind
