Democracy |
Means we have a say in who we vote for. You must be 18 years or older to vote. |

Bilingualism |
Canada has two official languages: English and French. The official languages act guarantees that no matter where you live in Canada, information will be available in both languages |

Universal healthcare |
In 1966, Canadians recognized that everyone deserves the right to healthcare. As a result Medicare, also known as universal healthcare, became law. Doctors are paid by the government. |

Freedom of religion |
Christianity was the most common religious practice in Canada until more immigrants arrived. The Canadian human rights act states that other religious groups can take time off work to celebrate holy days, like Catholics do with Christmas and Easter |

Diversity and inclusiveness |
Diversity means people come from many countries, speak different languages, and have unique ways of living. Inclusiveness means we embrace these differences. |
