GPA

A grade point average that represents the average value of the final grades earned in semester or allotted amount of time

Private College

An independent school that runs its own policies and is privately funded.

Public College

A college that is primarily funded by the public.

Co- Educational Institution

A school that teaches both genders in the same class

SAT

A Scholastic Assessment Test that measures the reading, writing, and math levels of juniors and seniors in high schools.

ACT

An American College Training college readiness assessment that is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions.

Associate's Degree

A degree that is given to a student who has completed a collective study of two years.

Bachelor's Degree

A four-year degree, which usually takes at least 120 semester credits or at least 40 or more college courses.

Master's Degree

The first level of graduate study. To apply for it one must hold an undergraduate degree. They can be awarded by either the public or state universities.

Doctorate Degree (PhD.)

The highest academic level degree that one can receive. If one already holds a master's degree, three years extra of full time study of the subject

Major

Is a specific study area that a student will specialize in. You usually take classes that are in your major or related to it.

Minor

Is usually the second area of study that you focus on. This is a way for a student to explore other field instead of having to declare a second major.

Double Major

Is when a student studies two degrees to specialize in. This means they can put two majors on their resume.



Study Abroad

Is when a student is pursuing educational opportunities as they would at home but in another country than their own.
