CIVIL WAR IN RUSSIA

USA and other nations sent troops into Russia in attempt to contain chaos. They were threatened by revolution in their own countries. Communism was a spreading threat. Western Governments moved to isolate the Soviet Union as much as possible.


BATTLE OF DUNKIRK

Battle was between the Allies and Germany. Dunkirk was the defence and evacuation of British from 26th of May til 4th of June. 338,000 allied soldiers were evacuated from the beaches at Dunkirk.

JAPAN IN CHINA AND THE PACIFIC

Japan conquered Manchuria by 1932. After Pearl Harbour the USA declared war with Japan on December 8th. Pearl Harbour was attacked as the Japanese saw it as a Military supremacy of the USA. America thought Pearl Harbour was impenetrable.

D-DAY LANDINGS

On the 6th of June 1944 Allied forces landed in France. This opened a second front that liberated Western Europe before Russia. D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion. D-Day happened immediately after Americas entry to the war. A majority of the German army were engaged in Russia. British hoped that confrontation in France would be delayed and Germany would collapse. D-Day stopped the spread of Communism.

NAZIS IN THE WAR

Throughout the was 70% of the Nazi troops in Europe were fighting the RED ARMY-soviets. 100 divisions from all over Europe had to be rushed to the east where the Red Army was moving at 40 miles a day westward crushing the Nazi forces. More than a million Nazi troops were destroyed by soviets.

BATTLE OF STALINGRAD

The turning point came in the battle of Stalingrad in the winter of 1942-43 which all capitalist historians have called the turning point of WW2. After Stalingrad the battlefield moved WESTWARD. Their mission was to take Berlin because it was the heart of their country. Soviets done as they pleased as they raped murdered and assaulted Germans.

4th-11th of February 1945


Yalta was the 2nd of 3 wartime conferences among the big 3. 1st was the Tehran Conference in 1943


2nd was the Yalta Conference in 1945.


3rd was Potsdam Conference in July 1945.


The Yalta Conference was a meeting of heads of government during WW2.

The goal of the conference was to shape a post-war peace that represented both security order and self determination to those of post Nazi Europe. Mainly to discuss the re-establishment of the nations of war. The 3 agreed to demand Germany's unconditional surrender. Stalin also agreed to permit free elections in Eastern Europe and to enter the Asian war against Japan. Most agreements were kept secret at first. Stalin broke his promise of free elections.
