Complaint
The affidavit that charges the commission of an offense.
Information
Written statement filed and presented by district or county attorney, charging defendant with an offense that may be prosecuted.

Required in Class A or B misdemeanors.
Indictment
Written statement of Grand Jury accusing a person of some act or omission which is an offense.

Required in all FELONY cases, unless waived by the defendant.
Commitment
An order signed by magistrate directing the Sheriff to receive and place the committed person in jail.
Capias
Writ issued by court or clerk directed "to any peace officer of the State of Texas" commanding the arrest of the accused and instructing that the accused be brought before the court immediately, or on stated date.

Issued after commitment or bail, but before trial.
