Two safety features of the p229 |
1: Safety intercept notch- prevents the hammer from resting on or striking the firing pin unless the trigger is pressed. 2: Firing pin safety lock- inside the slide, in its normal position, it will prevent any movement of the firing pin unless the trigger is pressed. 2.5: disconnector- protrudes just above the right grip. When the slide is out of battery the slide presses the disconnector down and the trigger is literally "disconnected" from sear. |

Types of ammo for p229 |
Inert- no primer or propellant, used for classroom and non-firing trainig only. Ball- full metal jacket flat point. For NATO mission, Law Enforcement, and training use. Hollow point- semi jacketed hollow point. Intended to cause bullet to expand when entering target. Used in USCG law enforcement missions. Frangible- copper and tin composite bullet. Designed to break apart upon impact of hard surface. Lethal round. TRAINING ONLY. |
