Daniel Thorton
Texas native that became CO gov. in 1950. was re elected governor in 1952. Stood for better highways and against costly programs
Lottery Draft
The type of draft conducted for Vietnam. A literal lottery was done by birth date that declared when you had to go to war.
Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales
a democratic politician, he founded the Crusade for Justice in 1966. This chicano movement ran a shcool, published a newspaper and even ran a ballet company.
Elizabeth "Betty" Pellet
A member of the CO house of reps, fought for equal pay of women.
Richard "Dick" Lamm
Served In CO legislature from 1966-1974 as a democrat.Led the successful fight to defeatk the proposal for CO to hold the 1976 winter olympics. Became governor in 1974 and served three terms.
Regional transportation District
A group that began to push for mass transit in CO. In 1982 RTD started operating free busses on 16th street mall. In 1994 RTD made a light rail line spanning 5.3 miles through Downtown Denver.
Coors Brewery
Founded in 1873 in Golden, CO.
Combined with Anheuser Bush, Coors made CO the nation's #1 beer producing state.
Roy Romer
Served CO General Assembly between 1958-1966. Was also Co State Treasurer from 1977-1987. Pushed pro business pro tourism projects like DIA. Opposed casino gambling
Columbine Massacre
4-20, 1999 Two students at Columbine High School came to school heavily armed with guns and pipe bombs and killed 12 students and one teacher then themselves. To this point, this was the most deadly school shooting in U.S. history.
