In eukaryotes, TRANSCRIPTION FACTORS:
Mediate the binding of RNA polymerase and the initiation of transcription.
Transcription Initiation Complex:
The complete assembly of transcription factors and RNA polymerase bound to a promoter.
Eukaryote promoter includes?
TATA box, Start point.

It is followed by a template DNA strand. Several transcription factors (proteins) bind to the DNA before RNA polymerase can do so.

Additional transcription factors bind to the DNA along w/ RNA polymerase forming the transcription initiation complex.
Prokaryotes and Post-transcriptional Modification...
they do not do it
Spliceosome / snRNPs
= variety of proteins and several small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs) that recognize the splice sites; the spliceocome contains the catalyst that promotes splicing.
ribozyme
catalytic RNA molecule - catalyzes the splicing of mRNA molecule
