Domain

A system that has three large groups that classify organisms.

Eukarya

A domain that includes all eukaryotes. All have nucleus. Unicellular!

Archaea

A domain that is made up of all prokaryotes. These prokaryotes are known to mankind to survive in extreme environments.

Bacteria

A domain that contains prokaryotes that normally have a cell wall and reproduce by cell division.

Kingdom

Form of classification that have six parts: plants, animals, fungi, protists, eubacteria, and archaebacteria.

Protist

A single celled organism that doesn't fit into any other category. Has characteristics of animals, plants, and fungi.

Fungi

A single celled or multicellular organism. They can be found in oxygen dense areas.

Animal

Multicellular organism that is eukaryotic. They are under the kingdom Animilia. They have sensory and nervous systems that help them detect and respond to stimuli.

Plant

Multicellular and eukaryotic organisms. Also known as embryophytes. Any member of the kingdom Plantae. They create their own food and go through photosynthesis.

Dichotomous Key

A tool used to determine animals of the natural world.

Binomial Nomenclature

A system that names species. Made up of two parts and normally in latin language.
