Book 8

Turnus sends a messenger to beg aid of Diomedes. Aeneas secures assistance from Evander and the etruscans, religious ceremony concerning Hercules and Cacus, Venus asks Vulcan to make Aeneas's Armour, Roman key events culminating in the battle of Actium and the naming of Mark Antony and Aggripa.

Book 9

Turnus attacks the Trojan camp, fires at the trojan ships: turned in to Nymphs by Cybele. Ascanias makes his first kill. Nisus and Euryalus leave to get help from Aeneas, attempt a night raid: fails and both die. The camp is hard pressed as Turnus attacks.

Book 10

The Gods debate: Venus asks for the right to save her grandson, Juno is insulted, Jupiter forbids either one to interfere. Aeneas on his way back, Fight continues, Tuscan catalogue, Turnus kills Pallas, honours him in returning the body. Juno saves Turnus from raging Aeneas, tricks him on to a ship. Aeneas's Ariesteia, repents killing lausus before killing Mezentius: restores his honour.

Book 11

Burial of Pallas, grants a truce for burying the dead, Evander laments his son and calls Aeneas his own, Latins debate: Diomedes' refusal, Drances wants to end with a truce, Turnus's Honour will not allow him: promises to fight Aeneas in single combat. The Trojans attack. Aristeia and death of Camilla, an Amazon-like maiden warrior. Turnus's Ambush fails.

Book 12

Turnus challenges Aeneas to a single combat: Juno tells juturna her brother is fated to die, truce agreed on, betrayed by the provoked Ruttilians (Juturna's speech and the misinterpretation of augury), who wound Aeneas. He is miraculously cured by Venus, Juno and Jupiter reconcile but with conditions: Trojans will only retain their gods not their language or name, Aeneas forces Turnus to a duel, and concludes the poem with his death caused by Pallas's belt.
