Unconditioned Stimulas

Any stimulus that consistently produces a particular, naturally occurring, automatic response.

Eg. The food in Pavlov's experiment

Unconditioned Response

The response that occurs automatically when the USC is presented. A reflexive, involuntary response.

Eg. Salivation due to the food in Pavlov's experiment

Conditioned Stimulas

The stimulus that is neutral at the start of the conditioning process and does not normally produce the UCR.

- However, through repeated association with the UCS, the CS triggers the same response to that of the UCS.

Eg. The bell in Pavlov's experiment

Conditioned Response

The learned response that is produced by the CS. The CR occurs after the CS has been associated with the USC.

Eg. Salivation due to the CS (bell ringing) in Pavlov's experiment

Neutral Stimulas

Doesn't produce a response.

- Later becomes the CS

Eg. The bell ringing
