What are the major goals of DRILL?
To promote teamwork. To promote discipline. To learn to FOLLOW.
Name 4 areas that come under the mission of EMERGENCY SERVICES.
1.Search and Rescue operations (SAR)- Radio Operators and Traffic Controllers fall into this category
2.Civil Defense - much like SAR, but working with Civil Defense officials

How does a CAP Cadet report to an Officer?
Salute and say "Sir or Ma'am"

What is the name given to a military "camp out."

What is an "element member?"
As a new Cadet Basic with CAP, the few responsibilities you have will be as an "element member."

What does keeping an "open mind" have to do with good listening skills.
Keeping an "open mind" means not allowing your personal ideas to interfere with accepting new ideas.
What is the CAP motto?
SEMPER VIGILANS - ALWAYS VIGILANT
What does the Unit's organizational chart show?
It shows the names of all the important people serving in your Unit.
How does CAP divide its marching units?
Marching units are divided into ELEMENTS, FLIGHTS, SQUADRONS, GROUPS and WINGS.
What does managing others start with.
You must be able to manage yourself first, before you can begin to manage others.
What is the difference between the words "grade" and "rank?"
GRADE is an important step in the promotion "structure" or program.
RANK is grade adjusted for time.
Captain and Major are examples of GRADE. Seniority determines RANK
NO TWO PEOPLE IN A GRADE LEVEL HAVE THE SAME RANK!
What is the CHAIN OF COMMAND?
The order of Authority. It describes the specific functions and duties of the members of the organization from the Unit Commander down to the individual cadets.
How is a CAP Cadet supposed to address Cadet officers?
"SIR" and "MA'AM"
What is the three step approach to improving your reading comprehension?
1.IDENTIFICATION - Finding the author's main ideas. Be able to answer the question, What am I reading.
2.INTERPRETATION - Find key ideas and sentences that support the author's main ideas.
3. EVALUATION - Decide if you understand the main points of the reading.
When was the CAP Cadet Program started?
1941
As a Cadet Basic what are your responsibilities as an "element member?"
You are responsible for the following:
--learning basic drill movements -- reporting properly -- how to fall in properly to a unit formation -- get to know members of your Unit
What is the definition of the word "COURTESY?"
Simple politeness, civility, respect, and personal recognition of the rights of others.
What are the four MISSIONS of CAP?
1. AEREOSPACE EDUCATION - to promote an understanding and appreciation of the aviation and aereospace industry.
2. INTERNAL AEREOSPACE ED. - aerospace education programs
3. EXTERNAL AEREOSPACE ED. - Programs for non-cadets - for adults who work with cadets

What is "FOLLOWERSHIP?"
Reaching a specific goal while exercising:
1. RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY
2. POSITIVE ATTITUDE
3. INTEGRITY
4. SELF-DISCIPLINE
5. ABLE TO REACH A SPECIFIC GOAL
How is the word "selfless" different from the word "selfish?"
SELFLESS means thinking of others.
SELFISH means thinking only of yourself.
Tell one way you can show a POSITIVE ATTITUDE.
Be willing to do all those things asked of you without complaining or whining.
Name two ways you can show respect for AUTHORITY.

What do "following" and "self management skills" have to do with CAP?
They are basic principals of Leadership.
What does SELF-DISCIPLINE mean?
Doing a task because you see that it needs to be done, not because you are told to do it. You are motivated internally not externally.
What are the 5 things a good listener must do?
1. Listen to understand, not to argue or challenge.
2.Take notes with care.
3.Make and hold eye contact.
4.Keep your feelings positive.
5.Listen to new ideas and if you use them, give credit to the person you got the idea from.
INTEGRITY means having what qualities?
