republicans who are conservative and resistant to change

single dictator with absolute power, usually with a violent or forceful takeover

Totalitarian Regime

dictator holds ultimate control, similar to dictatorship

Theocracy

government is religiously based, leaders are selected through the church

Oligarchy

small group of powerful people, ruled by a few

Constitutional Monarchy

monarch = head of the state but has no real power. power is in other brances

Republic/Representative democracy

government by the people, U.S.A. government

Direct Democracy

government by the people, citizens come together to discuss, leaders are chosen by election
