In Personam jx.
Power or authority of a court to render a judgment that binds the person of the defendant.
In rem jx.
Power of the court to adjudicate the rights of all persons with respect to a given item of property.
Quasi in rem jx.
The power to adjudicate the rights of parties before court with respect to a given piece of property. Recovery is limited to the value of the property.
