Structure

“Circulatory pumps”

pulmonary circulation (transportation of the blood between the heart and the lungs) pulmonary artery- lungs- pulmonary vein.

systemic circulation (transportation of the blood between the tissues and the heart) aorta- bodily tissues - vena cava

Where the blood is transported between.

The heart.

Has 4 chambers that work to push blood out of the heart and into the blood vessels.

Upper chambers: atria (receive blood to feed it to the ventricles for distribution to the lungs or body)

Lower chambers: ventricles

Both have strong one way VALVES that insure one way blood flow.

Tricuspid: valve between the right atrium and ventricle

Bicuspid: between the left atrium and ventricle
