What do alkalis in aqueous solutions produce?
OH⁻ ions
What do H⁺(aq) (hydrogen) ions do to solutions?
Make them acidic
What do hydroxide (OH⁻ (aq)) do to solutions?
Make them alkaline
When put together what do hydrogen and hydroxide ions makes?
Water
What can an acid be defined as?
A proton donor
What can a base be defined as?
proton acceptor
What is a strong acid or alkali in relation to water?
100% ionised in water
Give 3 examples of strong acids.
