What does the atomic number of an element tell us

It tells us where it is on the periodic table and it tells us the number of protons the element has

What does the mass number of an element tell us

It tells us how much it weighs and helps you work out the neutrons

Explain the term ion and give an example of one

An ion is a charged element, H20

Why do atoms have no charge and ions have a charge

Because atoms have the same number of protons and neutrons and I want to have an imbalance of protons and electrons

List two elements that form cations and anions

Cations= lithium, beryllium

Anions= fluorine and chlorine

Explain why elements in the same group of the periodic table have similar properties

Because they have the same amount of valence electrons

What does the period of the periodic table represent what does it tell us about an atom

The period of a periodic represents the number of electron shells in an element
