What are Alkali metal |
Alkali metals are soft silvery metal that are extremely reactive and cannot be found in their pure state in nature but in combination with other elements |
What are Alkali Earth Metal |
They are found in group 2. They reactive but not as reactive as Alkali metals. They are not found in their pure state but in combination with other elements. They are generally ductile, malleable and good conductors of heat and electricity |
What are Halogens? |
Halogens are found in group 17. They are colorful reactive non-metals they are often corrosive. |
What are noble gases? |
They are found in group 18. They are generally unreactive gases. |
What is Atomic Radius? |
Atomic Radius is simply the size of an atom. It's the distance from the nucleus to the furthest out electron |
What is the trend of the Atomic radius from top to bottom of the periodic table and from left to right? |
The atomic radius increases from the top to the bottom of the group and decrease across the period from left to right. |
What is Ionization energy? |
This is the the total amount of energy needed to remove an electron from an atom |
What is the trend of the Ionization Energy in the periodic table |
Ionization energy increases across the the period and decreases across the group |
What is Electronegativity? |
This is the measure of an atom's attraction to electrons |
What is the trend of Electronegativity across the periodic table |
The electronegativity increase from left to right of the period and decreases from top to bottom of the group |
