What is chemical bond
Are attractive forces that binds or holds atoms in an element or compound |
Attractive forces |
Why are inert gases unreactive |
This Is due to the fact that they have complete octet/shell. Hence they have low energy and are stable |

1.What are the proposals of chemical bonds 2. What are the theories of chemical bonds. |
1a. There most be something unique about the electronic configuration of inert gases that prevents them from combining with other gas atoms. 1 b. Atoms unite in other to attain complete octet configuration as inert gases. 2 a. Electrons in the valence shells are outer shells are very important when it comes to bonding. B. Some bonds are formed by the transfer of electrons from one atom to another. Leading to formation of +ve -ve ions. Ionic bond C. Some bonds are formed by the sharing of electrons. Leading to the formation of molecules. Covalent bond. D. This sharing and transfer of electrons is aimed at attain complete octet for the molecules. Octet rule is very important and reliable because it gives information about number of bonds. But not the shape of the molecule. |
