How to test for sulphate ion? |
Add hydrochloric acid then a few drops of barium chloride solution. White precipitate formed. |

How to test for halide ion? |
Add nitric acid then a few drops of silver nitrate solution. Will form white - yellow precipitate depending on ion. |

Test for carbonate ions |
Add hydrochloric acid to solution, if you see bubbles, use tube to let bubbles through lime water. If lime water turns cloudy, then carbonate. |
