Generic Name

Name assigned to a drug by the USAN (United States Adopted Name) Council for ea. pharmaceutical co. that manufactures the drug after the pt. runs out of original manufacturer of the drug.




(Name is not usually capitalized)

Inscription

Section appearing on a prescription showing:




- the name of the drug


- quantity of ingredients


- dose strength

Inunction

The act of applying oil or ointment

Signature

Section of a prescription that gives instructions to the pt. on how to take or apply the meds.

Transdermal

relating to or denoting the application of a medicine or drug through the skin, typically by using an adhesive patch, so that it is absorbed slowly into the body.

Subject Filing

Alphabetical arrangement of records filed by topic or grouped under a main theme

Forecast of the outcome of a disease or injury

Permanent, legal document in letter or report format formally stating the elements performed and results of an examination & treatment ot pt.

Audit

Periodic examination/review of pt. records to verify recordkeeping, documentation for level of service billed, and proper medical care.
