Mainstreaming

Placement of students with disabilities into general education classrooms for some or all of the school day

Inclusive Education

Students with disabilities receive the services and supports appropriate to their individual needs within the general education setting

Full Inclusion

Students with disabilities receive all instruction in a general education classroom support services come to the student

Partial Inclusion

Natural supports

The students family and classmates; These individuals comprise a support network of mutual caring that promotes greater inclusion within the classroom and school, access to effective instruction, and the development of social relationships (friendships)

Cooperative learning

Emphasizes the simultaneous learning of students as they work together to achieve group goals

Peer tutoring

An instructional method whereby one student provides instruction and/or supports to another students or group of students

Age-appropriate placement

Educational placement based on instructional programs consistent with chronological age rather than developmental level
