Epithelial Tissue

Helps the skin and cover the entire outer surface of the body; forms a large continuous sheet.




Ex: Kinda looks like floor tiles.

Adipose Tissue

Fat that is composed primary of adipocytes.

Areoloar Tissue

Tissue made up of collagen and elastin fibers in a gel-like intercellular matrix.




Tissue is soft and surrounds, protects, and, cushions many organs.

Chondrocytes

Secrete a protein-containing intercellular matrix that becomes firm, smooth, and rubbery.

Columnar Epithelium

Tall and Narrow and look like columns

Connective Tissue

The most abundant of the four tissue types and is widely distributed throughout the body. Found in blood,under the skin, in bone, and in many other organs.




Binds the body parts together.

Cuboidal Epithelium

Cube look alike cells and look like dice.

Endocrine Glands

Secrete hormones, such as insulin.

Exocrine Glands

Have ducts, or tiny tubes, into which the exocrine secretions are released before reaching body surface or body body cavities.




Secretions include: mucus, sweat, saliva, and digestive enzymes.

Fascia

Covers, supports, and anchors organs to nearby structures.

Intercellular Matrix

The second characteristic shared by most connective tissues is an abundance of intercellular matrix.

Ligaments

Cross joints and attach bones together.
