Climate Change
A scientific theory that the earth's climate is changing due to man-made and/or naturally occuring causes.
Ratify
Official approval.
Biodiversity
The variation of life forms (plant or animal life) in a particular habitat.
Greenhouse Gases
Gases that are emitted both naturally and by man. Green house gases help in climate change, which can be bad and good at the same time. They are made by the combustion of fossil fuels.
Fossil Fuels
Are fuels that include oil and coal. These are non-renewable resources, and are considered "dirty".
Kyoto Protocol
An agreement signed and ratified by countries around the world to reduce their emission levels below 1990 amounts, formed through the United Nations. Canada has agreed to Kyoto, but we are currently 24% higher than our 1990 emission levels.

An international organization formed to promote international peace, security, and cooperation under the terms of the charter signed by 51 founding countries in San Francisco in 1945. Also called UN.
