Eating Disorders
|
Disorders of food ingestion, regulation or attitude that affect health and well-being, such as anorexia, bulemia or binge-eating

Anorexia Nervosa
|
Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming "fat", couppled with refusal to maintain adequate nutrition with severe loss of body weight.

Purge
|
The removal of food from the body by self-induced vommiting or misuse of laxitives, diuretics or edemas.

Bulimia Nervosa
|
Frequent occurence of binge eating episodes accompanied by a sense of loss of control of overeating and recurrent inappropriate behaviors such as purging or excessive excersice to prevent weight gain.

|
A diagnostic cataregory reserved for the disorders o feating that do not meet the critiria for any other specific ating disorders.

Distinct from non-purging bulimia nervosa, whereby binging is not accompanied by inapropriate compensatory behavior to limit wieght gain
