-Wall street market crashed in 1929.
The Grapes of Wrath
-s a novel published in 1939 and written by John Steinbeck, who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1940 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962.
-Set during the Great Depression, the novel focuses on the Joads, a poor family of sharecroppers driven from their Oklahoma home by drought, economic hardship, and changes in financial and agricultural industries. Due to their nearly hopeless situation, and in part because they were trapped in the Dust Bowl, the Joads set out for California. Along with thousands of other "Okies", they sought jobs, land, dignity and a future.
Moral Man and Immoral Society/ Reinhold Niebuhr
-was an American theologian and commentator on public affairs. Starting as a leftist minister in the 1920s indebted to theological liberalism.

STFU Southern Tenant Farmers Union
-was founded in 1934 as a civil farmer's union to further organize the tenant farmers in the Southern United States.
Huey Long
-Long created the Share Our Wealth program in 1934 with the motto "Every Man a King", proposing new wealth redistribution measures in the form of a net asset tax on corporations and individuals to curb the poverty and homelessness endemic nationwide during the Great Depression. To stimulate the economy, Long advocated federal spending on public works, schools and colleges, and old age pensions. He was an ardent critic of the Federal Reserve System's policies.
