Simple squamous epithelium
Single layered, flattened cells. Filtration, diffusion, osmosis, and covers surface. Air sacs of lungs, wall of capillaries, linings of blood and lymph vessels.
Simple cuboidal epithelium
Single layer, cube-shaped cells. Secrection and absorption. Surface of the ovaries , linings of the kidney tubules, and linings of ducts of certain glands.

Unicellular or multicellular. Secretion. Salivary glands, sweat glands, endocrine glands.
