PRAIRIE
Inland grassland with very fertile soil
CORDILLA
A group of mountain ranges that run side by side
Appalachian Highlands
Located along Canad's southeastern coast. In the U.S., they are the Appalachian Mountains.
ST. LAWRENCE RIVER
A major waterway leading into central Canada connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Lakes.
CANADIAN SHIELD
Located around Hudson Bay. It has the oldest rock formations. The northern part of the shield is covered with ice and snow. The southern part has evergreen forests.
HUDSON BAY
Body of water north of the Canadian shield. It's connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the Hudson Strait.
ROCKY MOUNTAINS
Landform shared by Canda and the U.S. which lies west of the Interior Plains. It is part of the CORDILLA
CANADIAN CLIMATE
The north has a cold polar climate. Farther south has a subartic climate with short cool summers and long, cold winters. The southeastern part of Canada has a humid continental climate. The southwestern Pacific coast has the only wet, mild winter climate.
