Examination of spine , back. Long time in this position nah cause neck strain or headache

Sims

Side lying , upper knee flexed sharply , bottom arm behind body. Difficult for client with arthritis of leg injuries .



Rectal examination

Fowler’s

Supine with head raise . Knees elevated slightly .


Promotes drainage; assists with breathing ; preparation for dangling or walking

Orthopneic

Client sitting fully upright ; arms outstretched



Severe cardiac or respiratory respiratory disorders

Knee chest

Client on knees with chest resting on bed . Things straight up and done and legs flat on bed .




Used for rectal or vaginal examination

Lithomy

Supine with legs separated , knees acutely flexed , hips at end of examination table




Pelvic or perineal examination

Trendelenburg

Head lower than feet .

Flexion

Decreasing the angle between two bones or bending a part on itself. As in bending the leg at the hip

Extension

Increasing the angle between two bones , as in straightening the arm

Hyper extension

Increasing the angle of an extremity behind normal , as in bending the head back to lol and the ceiling or behind the fingers back

Dorsiflexion

Bending a Body part toward the dorsum (backward) , as in moving the door so the toes are pulled toward the knee and this facing backward

Plantar flexion

Bending the golf so the toes are pointed downwards

Supination

Turning the palm upward

Pronation

Turning the hand downward

Eversion

Turning the door so the sole faces away from the other foot

Protraction

Moving forward or anteriorly, as in hitting out the jaw

Retraction

Moving backward or back into anatomic position
