Intense perianal itching manifested by red, raised, thickened, excoriated skin around anus

Common causes: pinworms in children, fungal infections in adults (area is swollen and poist and appears dull grayish-pink)

With psychosomatic itching, skin is dry and brittle

cavity of pus from infection in pararectal space. Persistent throbbing rectal pain; occurs laterally between anus and ischial tuberosity and is uncommon
Carcinoma of Rectum
Asymptomatic, malignant neoplasm in rectum, early lesion may be single firm nodule. Palpate ulcerated center with rolled edges and as it grows it becomes irregular cauliflower shape and is fixed and stone hard. Half are malignant
Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy
Urinary frequency, urgency, hesitancy, straining to urinate, weak stream, intermittent stream, incomplete emptying, noturia.

Symmetric nontender enlargement, prostate surface feels smooth, rubbery.
Prostatitis
Fever, chills, malaise, frequency, urgency, dysuria, urethral discharge, dull, aching pain in perineal and rectal area

Acute inflammation: tender enlargement, swollen, slightly asymmetric gland tender to palpation

Chronic: can very from tender enlargment with boggy feel to isolated firm areas. Or gland may feel normal

Dysuria, nocturia, continuous lower back pain, hesitancy, hematuria,

Stone hard, irregular fixed nodule on posterior surface, producing asymmetry and chance in consistency. As it progresses, multiple hard nodules appear or entire gland feeld stone hard and fixed, median sulcus is obliterated
