instant messaging (IM)
Real-time Internet communications service that notifies a user when one or more people are online and then allows the user to exchange messages or files or join a private chat room with those people.
IP address
A number that uniquely identifies each computer or device connected to the Internet. See also Internet Protocol address.
ISP (internet service provider)
Regional or national Internet access provider.
link
Built-in connection to another related Web page or part of a Web page. Short for hyperlink.

Any application that combines text with graphics, animation, audio, video, and/or virtual reality.

Computers used to simulate a real or imagined environment that appears as a three dimensional (3-D) space.
VoIP
Technology that allows users to speak to other users over the Internet using their desktop computer, mobile computer, or mobile device.
Web
Worldwide collection of electronic documents called Web pages, the Web is one of the more popular services on the Internet. Also called the World Wide Web.
Web Page
Electronic document on the Web, which can contain text, graphics, animation, audio, and video and often has built-in connections to other documents, graphics, Web pages, or Web sites.
Web App
Web site that allows users to access and interact with software through a Web browser on any computer or device that is connected to the Internet. See also Web application.
