William "Boss" Tweed
The NYC political boss was depicted as a greedy giant and vulture feeding on the city by cartoonist Thomas Nast. During 1860s and 1870s, he cheated New York City out of more than $100 million. After fleeing to Spain, he was arrested and died in jail in 1878.
