What is the endocrine system?
Communicates by means of chemical messengers-hormones, secreted into the blood.
What is the nervous system?
contains the electrical and chemical means to send messengers to cell to cell.
What are the 3 functions of the nervous system?
Receives information-change in body/external environment, transmits coded messages to the spinal cord and brain.
Processes the information- the brain and spinal cord process the information and determines what response is appropriate.
Issues commands- brain and spinal cord send out commands to muscles and glands cells to carry out the information.
