He showed signs of being special as a kid, and his slave owner said he was to intelligent to be a slave. Apparently, he wasn't really sent by God like he thought he was because he and his friends murdered all the slave owners in town. Creep. He was soon caught for his stupid deed, and he was executed along with about 100 other blacks. This showed that the slaves were edging toward freedom, and the white people were struggling to control them .The more the slaves heard about other rebellions and liberation, the more rebellions they had themselves, and things got a little hectic.
Nat Turner
this was the line created after the Missouri compromise that divided the slave states from the free states. There was no real barrier on the line, but instead it was an imaginary line that stretched across the southern latitude of Missouri. The line also separated the difference in character of the northern and southern Americans. The culture was very different on the opposite sides of the lines.
The Mason Dixon line:
They were illegally smuggled into the United States in the 19th century, but the 600% growth of slaves was due to natural reproduction. As American society expanded west, so did the slave population; the farmers needed slaves for their cotton farms. There were nearly no slaves north of the Mason Dixon Line.
Slaves:
This was most intense in the south of course because there were many more black people there than the north. The Southern States made laws that said that the slaves had to obey their masters, and any white guy could stop and keep the slaves in order. This was another exercise of control over a minority.
White Supremacy:

White Supremacy:
Southern Intellectuals wrote articles about how slavery wasn't evil at all, but instead it was a positive thing for the nation. The slaves contributed to the southern people, but not the northern people, so naturally the north didn't like slaves. They wanted them to be free so that they could participate in commerce. White southerners said that blacks were inferior and could not possibly survive by themselves.
Defense against Slavery
they lived a pretty laid back life because they hired overseers to look after all the people that worked on the farm. The master went to town to conduct business and went play around whenever he wanted to. The masters thought of themselves as fathers to the slaves and all the workers. Since the slave trade was cut out, the masters started to treat their slaves better to be sure that they could reproduce. Though they thought of themselves as fathers, they still whipped the slaves with whips a lot. Some were more cruel to the slaves than others.
Plantation Masters
The women were still to act decent in the south. They were the exact opposite of their husbands. When the girl got married to her husband, he actually made her work with the slaves just as much and she had to manage the giant house that they lived in. Their lives were probably harder than their husband's lives. Then on top of it all she had to have lots of babies.
Plantation Mistresses
Slaves were not limited to the agriculture field, but they were also able to work in shops, barbers, and custom creations shops. Even the young slaves were given simple jobs. Some of the women slaves became house workers.
The various labor offered by slaves
The political candidates of each party presented themselves as the innocent farmer that would help the people with anything. The whigs liked government invervention, but the democrats opposed it because it would take away the liberties of the citizens. The elected officials were often rich slaveholders who were elected by the common white people. The rich people had to be caring to the poor people if they wanted to be elected. Eventually the south passed laws that said that no one could speak out against slavery because it was too important to the south.
