verb twins (imperfective)
(they r like the english "ing" ex: coming) идвам виждам закъснявам *to be late казвам помагам поръчвам продавам сядам харесвам чакам чета *to read отивам разбирам затварям |
verb twins (perfective)
(sort of like an infinitive...ex: to come/ i will come) (да) дойда (да) видя (да) закъснея (да) кажа (да) помогна (да) поръчам (да) продам (да) седна (да) харесам (да) почакам (да) прочета (да) отида (да) разбера (да) затворя |
|
Perhaps I'll come
|
може би ще дойда
|
|
imperfective vs perfective
1) which often have a suffix of -ва- ? 2) which often have a suffix of -на ? 3) which often has extra letters (a prefix) added to the front of the verb? |
imperfective vs perfective
1) imperfectives! ex: казвам поръчвам 2) perfectives! ex: седна започна 3) perfectives! ex: почакам направя |
|
when to use the imperfective verb:
|
*in most present tense cases
къде отиваш? виждаш ли таблетката? *when making generalizations николай винаги закъснява |
|
when can the perfective verb be used in the present tense??!
part 1 |
*when you say that you want to, have to, or can do something (it makes perfect sense)
ex: искам да отида трябва да поръчам аз мога да видя може ли да седна до вас? |
|
when can the perfective verb be used in the present tense??!
part 2 |
*after words such as когато and ако.
ако дойде, когато дойде (these are like future-y types of sentences anyway so its not too confusing. :] *after за да, or just да on its own. той идва, за да те види. отивам да се обадя |
|
imperfective vs perfective
which goes with the future tense?? |
PERFECTIVE is usually used when talking about the future:
утре, няма да закъснея. ще ви донеса менюто. HOWEVER, when being more general about future things, use the IMPERFECTIVE! винаги ще ставам рано ще чакам до 11 часа. |
|
to bring
|
нося, (да) донеса
|
|
when to use да with imperfective verbs
|
when talking about general things, like what you like and don't like.
не обичам да сядам до позореца. обичам да помагам. |
|
DO'S AND DON'TS.
when telling people POSITIVE commands or instructions which form is used? imperfective or perfective? |
the PERFECTIVE is almost always used for positive commands. when the command is just for one particular occasion it is perfective.
затвори вратата! направи кафе! if it is a constant command (like a rule) it is imperfective. затваряйте вратата! (like always..imagine this as a sign on a door.) |
|
DO'S AND DON'TS.
when telling people NEGATIVE commands or instructions which form is used? imperfective or perfective? |
IMPERFECTIVE is used for all negative commands and instructions (whether they are on a specific occasion or always)
не прави кафе! не затваряйте вратата! не сядайте до позореца! |
|
DO'S AND DON'TS.
недей(те)can also be used to tell ppl what not to do (negative commands) how is недей(те) used? |
недей/недейте is used with the imperfective verb.
ex: недей да спираш тук! недейте да спирате тук! недей да закъсняваш! недейте да закъснявате! |
|
обичам vs харесвам
when to use which? |
обичам is used for general statements. обичам сладолед.
харесвам is more specific харесвам този сладолед. they both mean love/like, but when it comes to people харесвам is like and обичам is love. |
