Skeletal muscle
function of skeletal muscle is to produce movement by either moving bones relative to other bones or moving soft tissues relative to bones
-produces movement: isotonic,concentric and eccentric contractions
-maintain body posture and body position
-support soft tissues genitalia, abdomen and internal structure of the neck
-Guard entrances and exits GI tract & urinary tract
-Maintain body temp shivering to warm, vasodilation to cool
known as the "muscle body" typically attached to bone by tendons but may not be attached to bone at all in many cases
