Homeostasis
The maintenance of a relatively stable internal environment within narrow limits.
External environment
Can vary greatly betweeen temperature, humidity and wind.
Blood glucose
Maintained within narrow limits despite our diet.
Temperature
Temperature of internal cells is referred to as core body temperature.
Blood pressure
Must have adequate blood and pressure to transport nutrients and wastes around the body.
Ions
Potassium and sodium are required for nerve transmission.
Urea
Urea needs to be removed as it is a waste product.
Sensory division
Transmits sensory information about the internal and external environments to the CNS where the information is processed.
