Jacksonian Democracy
The democratic party that had formed as a result of the contraversial isues that Jackson had brought on that separated the Repuclicans.
"Spoils System"
What Jackson critics called his excessive need to continuously replace his predecessors.
Indian Removal
Jackson's proposal of the removal of Native Americans, using force, from the states of Mississppi, Alabama, and Georgia into the designated area.
Jackson's Attitude towards Native Americans
Jackson had many triumps fightings the Indians resistance, but his thoughts of them were either savages as they disobeyed the white man, or children if they had did their bidding. He thought of them as obstacles to the success of the nation.
Trail of Tears
The trail the Chaerokee took during the indian removal. Many were too stubborn to leave their lands for Oklahoma, but were force to by American military. 16,000 died.
Nullification Crisis
When south Carolina felt that the tariff set on the state by the federal government was unconstitutional, legilature nullified it, which furiated President Jackson, who nearly forced the South Carliners to obey the tariff, and thought of the sountry as a single union which could not be broken. This was a strike at the state sevoreignty.
The Bank War
After the Panic of 1819, the people of America blamed the federal bank for their troubles. President Jackson was persistant about the riddence of the bank, but shortly after the Panic of 1837 occured the new party had finally taken it's stand, and the Whigs claimed it was the government's policies for the economy, even though historians found the economy break was oputside of American countrol.
Whigs
Party that had emerged during Jackson's presidency. The party represented that the only way to solve the countries economic issues was protective tariffs and duties.
"Specie Circular"
Required that land to be purchased by silver and gold.
John Calhoun
Jackson's vice president, who eventually uplifted much conflict between the two when Calhoun anonymously wrote the statement for the legislature that nullified South Carolina's Tariff.
Worcester v Georgia
Court case that decided that Native Americans were entitles to federal protection from state governments and it would infringe on the tribe's sevoreignty.
Roger Taney
When Jackson's secretary of Treasury refused to accomidate Jackson's plan of Bank removal, he simple replace him with Roger Taney, who followed through with Jackson's plan.
Force Bill
Jacksons bill that would allow him to use military action if need to control the South Carolinians and their tariffs hat refused to obey.
Peggy Eaton
A women that married Jackson's secretary of War. Her moral character divided the cabinet, and this gave Jackson the chance to hire a brand new st of cabinet members, one that would obediently follow his every demand.
Tariff of 1828
The tariff set upon south Carolina and started the Nullification crisis.
Nicholas Biddle
Took over the National bank in 1823, and brought public confidence back to the bank, but this didn't stop Jackson to blame the panic of 1819 on it, and attempt to rid the country of a national bank.
Alexis de Toqueville
Author of the most influential account of American Democracy. He visited the country and recorded the democracies faults and benefits from a French man's point of view.

the American people felt stongly about their political views, but it seamed women and colored people were ways off from getting the right to vote.

The rising trade unions were brought up by the early industrialization, but the panic of 1837 pretty much erased all of their work.

A tariff in South Carolina that showed favoring on special-interest groups.
Election of 1828
the Jackson rally was campagning across the country, and the party portrayed their candidate as a man of the people, which gave Jackson a quick win over Adams.

The party that believed the only way for a country to recover from economic issues, was for the government to not interfere at all.

the title the Whigs represented. It meant the government had the right to duty and tariffs in order to keep order among the economy.
Tippecanoe and Tyler Too
The slogan they used for William Henry Harrison's presidency, who was known for his victory in the battle of Tippecanoe and John Tyler who won the appeal in the south.
