John smith
John smith was an english explorer as well as soldier. He had established the first english settlement at Jamestown,virginia and soon became leader in 1608.

English settlers had established settlement in North America, naming their land jamestown in 1607.It had been the first english settlement in North America.

The first Joint stock comapnys had come about through colonialism. the Virginia Company had been the first established in America.The company made it possible for Early colonists in North America to prosper innew lands.
Indentured Servants
1600's-1700's
they were used as labor in Tobacco fields, and growing agricultural developments under an employer.
Puritans
1550's-1600's; Religious group in england, Escaping unreligios tolerance had fled to North America. Settling in parts of Virginia, but most in Massachusetts and Conneticut. They had shaped their government and society based on their religious ethics. A group of ouritans called "seperatists" had founded plymouth country in Holland, and were known as 'piligrims.'
John Winthrop
A wealthy puritan who had brought a group of puritans to Massachusetts and had been appointed governor. his total number of reelections had totaled at twelve.
King Phillips War
Supported by King Phillips, a war against the Native inhabitants and the New England settlers and English colonists.
The headright system
Started in Jamestown Virginia, and was headed by the Virginia company. It gave early colonists grants of lands, and offered new inhabitants willing to cross the Atlantic grants of 1 to 100 acres of land.
The Calverts
George Calvert the baron and a declared Catholic. He had become interested in the colonialism of the new world. His voyage to the new world had first been for economic reasons, then it became about catholic refuge. his charted was for Maryland,though it didn't come through until after his death, thus his son Cecilius succeeded him.
Bacon's Rebellion
An uprising in Virginia led by Nathaniel Bacon. it had been the first rebellion in the American colonies, it was a protest against native American raids on the frontier. Bacon's motivation was also against Virginia's Governor Berkeley and his ethics.
