Period
A number system that determines the value of a digit by its position in a number.
Place-value system
An approximate number that is obtained from rounding an exact number.

A number that is smaller than the divisor that remains after the division is complete.

The part of the dividend that is being considered at a given step of the process.

The quotient of the partial dividend and the divisor.
