What are the Cautions, Precautions & Special Considerations for Angina and Silent Ischemia?
1. Ensure patient understands his/her own angina symptoms before testing/beginning exercise program.
2. Patient should stay below ischemic threshold when exercising.
3. Patient should notify physician if changes in symptoms occurs.
4. Ensure patient has nitro with them (if necessary).
5. Increase warm-up/cool-down periods to try to avoid anginal symptoms.
6. Upper-body exercises increase likelihood of angina greater than lower body exercises.
7. Patient should rest if angina symptoms are 2 or greater.
