What is Emancipation?

process of being set free from legal, social, or political restrictions; liberation.

What is Lynching?

(of a mob) kill (someone), especially by hanging, for an alleged offense with or without a legal trial.

What were the social consequences of the Civil War?

-Free Slaves


-women took over jobs as men went off to war (teachers, nurses, etc.)


-People became hostel toward African Americans because they blamed them for the war.


-Developed southern nationalism

Inflation due to paper money;


The South could no longer supply the North with cotton.It became increasingly difficult to export goods due to the naval blocked imposed by the north.Very small amounts of hard currency only have what had been taken from union treasuries


What were the political consequences of the Civil War?

North won the civil war, thereby forcing the South to rejoin the United States. It also meant that the South had to emancipate its slaves (as well as anyone in the North who may have had slaves).
