Globalization
the interaction of countries across the world in terms of politics, economics, security and other fields and how one country affects another.
The consequences of globalization
- job loss or job outsourcing to other countries
-loss of individuality/diversity of a country because more powerful countries influence and change smaller, weaker countries
What is globalization to you?
Globalization is something we, ordinary people cant help but at the same time it affects everyone It brings new ideas into the world, but it outsources jobs in the countries that take part in it.
The results of globalization
-overal integration of markets, good, culture etc
-interaction of planet through commerce and culture
- decreases time and distance between people and markets
-power of stronger country putting their ideas on weaker countries
-with technology improving constantly= interconnection, better communication, greater knowledge of culture/resources of other countries
The beginning of globalization
- came about in the 1960s
- became a catch phrase in 1980s
- fall of communism and Cold War period
-Reagan of U.S. and Thatcher of Britain
-both conservatives- have a lassize fare approach to government/ open free trade (first time this could occur)
- China is a growing power
-an inevitable process of universalizing western civilization battling the narrow-minded forces of nationalism, localism, and tribalism
Qualities of Globalization
1) the creation of new social networks and multiplication of existing ones
-which increasingly overcome traditional, cultural, economical, political and geographical boundaries
2) the expansion of social relations and interdependence
-ex: financial markets
3) the intensification and acceleration of social exchanges and activiities
-local is global and global is local
4) globalization processes do not occur merely on an objective, material level, but also on the subjective plane of human consciousness
5) a phenomenon that people living in various parts of the world are affected differently by
