What does the Golgi complex do for a cell?

It helps make and package materials to be transported out of the cell.

What is cellular respiration?

The process that cells make energy from glucose using oxygen.

What is the cell theory?

1. All organisms are made up of one or more cells.

2. The cell is the basic unit of all living things.

3. All cells come from existing cells.

What does the Endoplasmic Reticulum do?

It is a system of membranes in the cytoplasm that helps in production, processing and transport of proteins and production of lipids.

What is a lysosome?

It is an organelle that digest materials inside a cell that the dose not need and attacks invaders that the cells does not want.

What are the four levels of organization in multicellular cells?

level one is cells that has a specific job.

level two is tissues which are a group of cells working together to complete a common goal.

level three is organs which are a group of tissues working together for a common goal.

level four is organ systems which are a group of organs working together for a common goal.

What is photosynthesis?

The process that a plant cell makes food from sunlight, this happens in the chloroplast.

What are the four stages of Mitosis? Explain each stage.

Stage one is prophase, the nuclear membrane dissolves and chromatids condense.

Stage two is metaphase, the spindle fibers make the chromatids line up at the equator.

Stage three is anaphase, spindle fibers pull one copy of each chromatid towards a pole.

Stage four is telophase, nuclear membrane appears and chromatids elongate and spindle fibers go away.

How does a plant cell divide and how does an animal cell divide?

An animal cells membrane pinches inward, spliting it in half. In a plant cell a plate forms in between the two new cells.

What is cellular respiration?

The process which cells use oxygen to produce energy from food.

How is cellular respiration and photosynthesis related?

Photosynthesis releases glucose and oxygen which cellular respiration needs and cellular respiration releases carbon dioxide and water which photosynthesis needs.

What are the phases of interphase and describe them.

G1 takes 8 to 10 hours proteins are being produced and organelles are being duplicated.

S phase takes 6 to 8 hours the DNA is being duplicated. This is ATP dependent.

G2 rapid growth stage it's making space for mitosis some cells skip this and it takes 4 to 6 hr

What happens in the stage of cytokinesis?

The separation of the cell into the two new daughter cells. (Last stage of the cell cycle)

Is archaea a prokaryotic cell or eukaryotic cell?

It is a prokaryotic cell.

What is a flagellum and what kind of cell is it found in?

It is an organelle that helps a cell move and it is found only in prokaryotic cells.

What is fermentation?

Fermentation is the process of breaking down food without oxygen.

What are feedback switches?

It is a check point in the cell cycle that says that the cell can go onto the next stage of the cell cycle or has to do the one its in again.

Do more complex organisms have more chromosomes that less complex?

No because a potatoes have 48 chromosome and humans only have 46.
