define eukaryotes and prokaryotes

Eukaryotes are made up of eukaryotic cells and have more than one cell

Prokaryotes are made up of prokaryotic cells and are single celled organisms

Name all parts of an animal cell

Nucleus= contains genetic material

cytoplasm= gel like substance where most chemical reactions happen it contains enzymes

cell membrane= holds cell together and controls what goes in and out

mitochondria= most of the reactions for respiration take place

ribosomes= involved in translation of genetic material in synthesis of proteins

Name structures only in a plant cell

Rigid cell wall= made of Celulose it supports the cell and strengthens it

Large vacuole= contains cell sap maintains internal pressure

Chloroplasts= for photosynthesis occurs contain green substance called chlorophyll

Structures of bacteria cells

No nucleus

Ribosomes

cell membrane

plasmid DNA = small loops of extra DNA that are part of chromosomes

chromosomal DNA= floats free inside cytoplasm

flagellum= moves bacteria

How is an egg cells specialised

Contains nutrients inside Cytoplasm to feed embryo

haploid nucleus

after fertilisation membrane change the structure to stop any more sperm getting in

How is a sperm cell specialised

Longtail so can swim to egg

lots of mitochondria in middle section to provide energy needed to swim

Acrosome whichwhich stores enzymes needed to digests the membrane of egg cell

contains haploid nucleus

How are ciliated epithelium cells specialised

Have cilia on the top surface of cells to move substances along
