Nucleus

The largest organelle found in animal cells.

Shares a name with the core of an atom.

Nucleolus

A densely packed spheroid of rybonucleic acid.

Found within the nucleus.

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

An organelle attatched to the nuclear membrane responsible for the packing of proteins within vesicles, for transport or storage.

Is named as such due to the ribosomes found lining it.

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum

The organelle responsible for the synthesis and packing of lipids.

Shares the nuclear membrane with it's counterpart.

Golgi Apparatus

Membrane bound organelle which modifies proteins within the cell.

Lysosome

Large sacks containing digestive enzymes for the destruction of enveloped foreign bodies.

Mitochondrion

The organelle responsible for the production of adenosine triphosphste via aerobic respiration.

This organelle is technically a symbiotic foreign bacteria.

Centrosome

Essential in the reproduction of all animal cells, this organelle manipulates chromosomes for mitosis.

Ribosome

Responsible for the production of amino acids after receiving messenger-RNA.

Found in two subunits.
