What does a cell membrane do?
It controls what enters and exits the cell. It acts as a barrier betweem the cytoplasm and the outside
What is the function of the nucleus?
It is the control center of the cell and controls the functions of the cell. It also contains the genetic material of the cell.
What is the nuclear membrane for?
It is protection for the nucleus and acts like a shield. It filters the substances coming in and out of the nucleus.
What does the nucleolus do?
It produces ribosomes which are key in protein synthesis
What is the function of the endoplasmic reticulum?
It produces and stores protein by breaking down other substances
What do ribosomes do in a cell?
They are organelles in which proteins are produced
What do the mitochondria do?
They are the centers where energy is produce to run the cell and the cell processes
What is the function of the golgi apparatus?
The golgi apparatus transports material throughout the cell
What do lysosomes do?
They digest food particles, water, cell parts, and foreign invaders
What are the vacuoles for?
The vacuole stores water and other materials
What does a cell wall do in a plant cell?
It is the most outer layer which protects and keeps the cell's shape. It also give the cell strength against the outside world
What is cytoplasm?
It is the substance in which the organelles float. This substance is very much jelly-like
What do chloroplasts do in a plant cell?
They contain the green chlorophyll and is the facility where photosynthesis occurs
What does the nucleus look like?
The nucleus looks like a large round bubble
What does the nuclear membrane look like?
The nuclear membrane looks like a thin layer around the nucleus
What does the nucleolus look like?
The nucleolus is the main structure in the nucleus and it is usually round
What does the endoplasmic reticulum look like?
The endoplasmic reticulum looks like small, thin pathways which are connected.
What do ribosomes look like?
Ribosomes look like small dots or raisons, throughout the cell and around the nucleus
What do mitochondria look like?
Mitochondria are usually circular or rod-shaped. They may also look similar to shell peanuts
What does the golgi apparatus look like?
The golgi apparatus consists of long thin lines which rap back and forth
What do lysosomes look like?
Lysosomes are medium sized circles and are kind of blob-like
What do vacuoles look like?
Vacuoles are large and sack-like
What does the cell wall look like on a plant cell?
The cell wall looks like a thick layer surrounding the entire plant cell
What does cytoplasm look like?
Cytoplasm is the substance throughout the entire cell
What do chloroplasts look like in a plant cell?
Chloroplasts are long shaped ovals with horizontal lines running through the center
What are all of the organelles in a plant cell?
1
What are all of the organelles in an animal cell?
1
