Interphase

Cells spend the majonty of ther cell cycle in interphase. The porpuse of interphase is for cell growth and DNA synthesis. Interphase is divided into threenphases. Each phase is characterized by soecific processes involuing different stroctures.

Mitosis

The purpose of mitosis is cell division: making two cells out of one. The DNA is replicated in Interphase (during the S phase). At the end of DNA replication, the cell contans 2 identical sets of DNA (46 chromosomes). In mitosis the chromosomes have to break apart so that each new cell.

Prophase

Chromatin condenses to become chromosomes. The nuclear membrane (evenlope) disappears. Centrioles have separated and moved to apposite sides of the cell. Spindle fibers forma bridge between the end of the cell.

Metaphase

Chromosomes line up across the center of the cell. Each chromosomes attaches to a spindle fiber at its centromere.

Anaphase

Chromosomes that goin the sister chromatids split. Sister chromatid separe becoming individual.

Telophase

Last phase of mitosis. Chromosomes of a single chromatid being to lose their rud lilce apperance. They are becoming chromatid again. New nuclear envelope forms at each side of the cell. Spindle fibers breakdown and dissolve.

Cytokinesis

Division of the cytoplasm into two individual cells. Animal cells pinches the cell in two daughter cells. Plant cells a cell plate forms midway between 2 nucleus wich develops into a separating membrane.
